Portrait of A Stranger

Multitalented Photographer Jenny Moloney shares, “Here is one of my favorite portraits from behind the counter at Farland Provisions, a charming little country store in Provincetown, MA.  I love this photo for the experience I had chatting with this sweet man before the shot.  He has one of the most genuine and kind faces.  I feel that film allows for a really unique experience.”

Korean Ceremony

Helios Images sent us these photographs of a family member only, Korean ceremony. The event was utterly traditional from the tea pouring to the brides dress, or “hanbok”, which was entirely handmade.

Alice in Wonderland

Isaiah Haynes is new to film photography, something you would never suspect from these shots. A typically digital photographer, Haynes shares that he “ was drawn to film because of the thought that goes into every shot, and the organic nature of film.”

Check out this cutie shot by Matt Haines! Film photography was just a hobby of Matt’s long before it ever became a career. “I had a camera problem…at one point I owned over 40 working cameras. My hobby was something of an obsession,” says Matt. “I still love film, and there’s something about an aging, crusty camera that still gives me a little thrill.” Check out his blog here for more great work.

Congratulations to our friend Heather Moore who was recently awarded 2nd place in the ISLANDS Magazine Photo Contest! She explains of the photo below, “The man was happy to let me shoot a few frames with my film camera. Yes, film. I’ve tried the digital route but don’t like how images look, nor all the computer work. With film, it’s straightforward.” Check out the ISLANDS Magazine contest website for more on the photo (Heather’s is the 3rd photo in the list of 14) and all the other submissions.

Justin DeMutiis generously sent us some spectacular shots this week. He describes them as examples of what keep his passion alive after a draining wedding season. “I combine gorgeous locations, beautiful models, and film to rejuvenate my creativity.”

Portra 400, Contax 645 at f/2.0, rated @400 scanned on the Noritsu.

“This was one of those images that was burned in my mind the second I composed and shot it. One of the first images I’ve created with Portra 400 that I truly love.” – Justin DeMutiis

Sunflower Bride

“These were shot on a Contax 645 using Fuji Pro 400H film, and came out exactly as I had hoped.  I’m experimenting with film, and with results like these I know I’m going to be shooting more and more of it” – Andrew Stott
